We can say new year in japanese called Oshogatsu.

Kagami-mochi are offerings
to the god of the New Year

Many people also draw sacred lots to learn
their fortune for the new year.

We have zoni 1st Jan. morning as a breakfast
Each area also has its own a special New Years soup
containing rice cakes.

Yes! I saw the full moon last night! It was a very clear sky yesterday, which felt like a miracle. In Zurich, Winter means no sunshine or blue skies!
